Motherhood

Life Lately: Really really really big news!!

I recently took a couple of months off to focus on my health and my family. Life has changed quickly since the beginning of the year…

THE SECRET IS OUT! If you saw on Instagram you already know…

We will be a family of FOUR starting in October!

We are SO excited! With a lot of, “are we seriously going to be in the two under two club?” mixed in there for good measure. I am feeling excited, anxious, worried, happy and many other emotions. I am trying to take this summer and beginning of fall for just Memphis!

WHEN AM I DUE?

October 20th!! During our anatomy scan, baby was measuring about a week early. But due dates are just “estimates”. My husband has a soccer game 3 hours away the day before my due date, so pray for my sanity that week.

Do we know what we are having?

We do not!! We did not find out with Memphis, so keeping the tradition alive.

Do we have names?

We do and of course we will keep the name a secret until birth. We have a boy and girl name (only a select few know the names)

My favorite part so far:

Watching Memphis interact with my stomach and saying “baby”, it is the cutest thing when I ask him where baby is, and he points to my stomach or belly button, LOL. I am starting to feel baby move, and it is nonstop at times. I have an anterior placenta, so it took a little bit longer to feel movement—totally normal.

How am I staying active?

My only answer is… chase a toddler every day!! I plan on making a post on fitness real soon 🙂 Very important for expecting mamas to stay active during pregnancy, can help shorten labor and postpartum. I am still working 3 days a week, so being on my feet and constantly moving also helps.

Experiencing any symptoms

1st trimester: I had headaches and felt tired. I had one week of just feeling blah/queasy. My food aversions were worse this pregnancy, but my energy came back around 14 weeks. So far my 2nd trimester is going great. Little sciatic nerve pain here and there but I cannot complain.  Blessed.

Any advice for 2 under 2? We would greatly appreciate any feedback!

Other LIFE things

February: I traveled to Tampa for my best friend Nancy’s bachelorette. It was so much fun to celebrate her and just be on a girl’s weekend. Fun fact, I found out I was pregnant two days before leaving. I had to tell Matt and my other best friend Ali, so Ali helped navigate alcohol drinks and shots during the trip.

March: Celebrated my birthday and Easter with family. We also had our first ultrasound of baby #2. March was a very calm and relaxing month.

April: We celebrated Nancy’s beautiful wedding in April. I truly love weddings and especially being in a wedding with all your besties. It was the best day and I wish we could go back and celebrate again!!!

May: Celebrated Mother’s Day weekend in Ellicottville, NY. We took a couple’s trip with one of Matt’s closest friend and his wife. We enjoyed a weekend without kids and also ran. The boys did a beer mile together (which was very impressive and gross) and the girls did a 5k. It felt so good to get out of house and spend time away with Matt. We hosted a Memorial Day cookout with our parents and siblings. I love watching Memphis and my nephew play and have a close bond.

June: June is a busy month for birthdays! We celebrated our cousins’ birthday party with family last weekend. I love reunions with family and friends. Matt and I took a trip to Columbus on Monday to see Chris Brown in concert. He is an AMAZING ARTIST AND PERFORMER!!! Best concert I have been too. My mom’s birthday is coming up on Sunday, and so is Father’s Day on Sunday.
We have a fun summer ahead, and I can’t wait to spend this summer outside with Memphis every day!
